Special Programs for
8th - 12th grades
The Journey Onward: 8th & 9th Grade Porgram:
Beginning in October 2009, we invite our 8th and 9th grade students to join a creative program that will offer continuing opportunities to learn about and enjoy their Jewish heritage in an environment that encourages discussion; social action; and thoughts on modern day dilemmas and solutions, even while building friendships in a warm and social atmosphere.
Our program will be held every Sunday, from 10:00AM to 11:30AM at CBI (with varying times for off-site events). The curriculum, created, in part, by a committee of 7th and 8th grade students is wide ranging and tackles many of the issues that affect our student’s Jewish and secular lives. There will be opportunities for field trips, and we will invite guest speakers and facilitators, all in order to make this an exciting and challenging Jewish program, which will ensure your child’s continuing Jewish education in a nurturing and familiar environment. There will be some emphasis on Social Action and the Repair of the World (Tikkun Olam), as well as many interactive social events.
THE GOAL of this program will be to provide further Jewish Education to 8th and 9th Grade students, making it relevant to the society in which we live and to prepare them for a Jewish future in a secular world.
Starting in October it will be necessary to be enrolled in this program or a program of
similar intent (i.e. Yachad)* in order to be eligible for our Madrichim program which will now only offer paid employment to our students in 10th grade
and beyond (except for those students already enrolled in the present Madrichim program.)
Confirmation(Starting in 10th Grade):
It has been about three years since your Bar or Bat Mitvah. Where are you now?

-• Family dinners and presentations of topical interest.

Mitzvot Opportunities

Family Education
We offer family education for Pre-Kindergarten through 7th grade students and
their parents. Programs range from Life Cycle, Jewish Philosophy,

Holy Days and Festivals. These programs encourage children and parents to learn
together, sometimes by parallel teaching and sometimes by coming together in
a warm and encouraging environment experiencing learning through music, art,

Spare Change
Spare Change is a project of our 7th graders who will work to collect for charities the equivalent of 1,005,000 dimes, one dime to honor each of the 1,000,000 Jewish children lost to The Holocaust and the 5,000 German children killed by their countrymen because they were born with disabilities. Please support our 7th graders as they work to make the world a better place. It is so easy everybody can do it! To learn more, click here.
