Legacy for Our Future

(formerly Project HOPE and EZRA Society)
With a gift through your will or estate plan, or an outright endowment, you can help
strengthen our congregation and leave a legacy for Congregation Beth Israel. Our Legacy for Our Future program will allow us to grow our membership and enhance our ability to meet the higher costs of operations.

There are so many ways to help. Life insurance policies, partial donations of IRAs,
appreciated stock, charitable gift annuities and remainder trusts, are a few of the vehicles we can suggest for your consideration. We have very knowledgeable people on the Beth Israel Legacy Committee and they will be glad to assist you and your family.

Go to our FAQs page for more information.

Ruth Tupper, Libby & Bennett Pearl, Debra and Bruce Fischman, Jan Glass, David & Lisa Ellovich, and Clare & Barry Feldman are participating. Read why they joined.

Congregation Beth Israel received a First Place Award in West Hartford’s Ninth Annual Historic Preservation Awards Program on May 11, 2006.

The award was given in recognition of the meticulous restoration of the synagogue exterior managed by Alan Reisner and Eric Lessne and implemented by Hoffman Architects and Weiss, Janney and Elsner Consulting Engineers. The jurors commented that it looks as if nothing had ever changed - a mark of true restoration. They were also impressed by the use
of original materials, especially the dome tiles that had been stored in a closet since the
1936 construction!

Left to right: Rabbi Stephen Fuchs, Senior Rabbi; Rob Berman, Campaign Director; Howard Pierce, President; Scott Slifka, Mayor; and Eric Lessne, Restoration Committee Director.

There is still time to make a pledge!

The Generations Capital Campaign has enjoyed strong support from the CBI community to date. We now have pledges totaling over $5 million. Nearly 600 pledges and gifts have been received. Our hope is to receive a pledge or gift, in some amount, from each family at Beth Israel. There is still time to make a pledge in the final phase of our campaign. In addition, please consider making a donation to honor, celebrate or thank someone. These one-time contributions are individually acknowledged to the giver and to the person being so honored.
